ABC news is claiming that its better than Music Match, is it ?

Windows Media Player (WMP) no longer feels like a freebie utility thrown in
with the OS (think Notepad), but is an application you'll actually want to
use. By giving you easy access to all of your multimedia files (music,
photos, and video) and helping you accomplish the tasks you're likely to
want to do with them, WMP 10 at least equals — and in our estimation
surpasses — the current leader in the field, MusicMatch Jukebox 9.

Isn't Music Match free (haven't used it thoght it was discussed in acf at
one time but i prefer MPC 'cause its smaller, lighter, and faster) ? Here's
the catch tho, from what I've read, WMP 10 only works on XP.

My question is, why can't they get IE / OE right ? Or do we have to buy
longhorn for that ?

The free version of MusicMatch is quite crippled and IMO doesn'tr eally
compare to the free WMP10, there is a paid version. I used musicmatch for a
long time (around the 6 - 7 versions) until media player XP came out with
Windows XP (as it was actually a 'jukebox' instead of just a little window
that played video's etc.). IMO musicmatch isn't as good as media player 9 or
10, but it's up to personal choice.

IE/OE...that topic seems a bit tacked on and isn't really all that relavent.
Microsoft will eventually get back into the browser business properly and
will probably kick everyones asses I reckon, but for now, I use Opera 'coz
it looks nice (security has never been an issue for me).

IIRC Music Match is what I consider as 'liteware'.

It tries to push the "Pro" (or something like) version, which is commercial, to
you.

[Missing part of this topic since it was not all sent in the last post,
but...]
MMJB is also nagware (Or atleast older versions are, don't know about
current). When you exit the program you get the nice WHAT TO BUY MMJB
TODAY? If I said no yesterday, chances are its going to be no today and for
the rest of my life. ;-) Plus MMJB limits you on many things unless you pay
for it. IIRC you get slow CD ripping, CD burning, etc.

This essentially makes it crippleware/nagware IMHO. Not freeware for me
