Left Padding Frontpage Themed Vertical Navigation Buttons

Don

This may be difficult for me to describe so I am desperately hoping one of
you guys/gals will see through my possibly poor description and figure out
what I am trying to achieve.

I am still learning FP2003 and not got very far yet.

I know how to create and apply themes. I can put vertical navigation onto
pages and all works well.

When I apply a theme to my vertical navigation I find that the text will
always butt hard up against the left side of the background graphic. This
looks unpleasant and I wish to somehow pad the text so that it will be
indented some from the left hand edge of the background.

I hope that makes sense to someone.

I look forward to any advice and will certainly get back to you if you need
further info from me.

Many thanks.

What's the URL so we can take a look? Have you tried adding another table
column between the navigation and the content and then putting some space in
it to give you more room? For example, you could create a 1x1 pixel
transparent GIF, insert it into the cell and then set the width to 10 pixels
(or however much space you need) and the height to 1 pixel.

Try customizing the theme, in Graphics for Vertical Navigation try changing
the Alignment of the text...might work for ya.

Tried that Rob.

The only option I see is to align left, centre or right.

I do wish to left align but I also want to pad by 10px or so.

That cannot be done with a theme. Nearest you can get is to use the
hyphen or underline characters to use as padding - not pretty.
Otherwise you are left with align left, centre or right.

With a little effort you can emulate the result you are looking for, but
you must forego the FrontPage navigation and maintain and build your own
navigation bars/buttons using the theme image backgrounds with a little
CSS to do the rollovers.

Redo your theme vertical nav images to add 5 px of transparent space to them
- then Modify yours theme to use the new images
