Left alignment of numbers

S

Sandra Brazell

I am fairly new to Excel but, I have learned to produce
two workbooks. I wish to setup the workbooks for right
aligned numbers. In both I have the alignment set for
general but, one workbook's numbers are right aligned as
desired and the other workbook's numbers are left
aligned. I have attemped to changed this using the
format and tools menu commands but, one workbook's
numbers continue to remain left aligned. What am I
missing?

Please help.

Hi Sandra
sounds like the numbers aren't real numbers but text values that look
like numbers. Try the following:
- format the cells as numbers
- select an empty cell
- copy this cell (e.g. using CTRL+C)
- select the cells with numbers
- goto 'Edit - Paste Special' and choose the action 'Add'

this should convert the 'text' numbers to real numbers and your
formating should be o.k.
