LED connectors on SCSI hard drives

Matt Garman

I have a couple of SCSI hard drives. Both of them have the LED
connectors in the middle of bottom of the drive. This location is
extremely inconvenient for attaching case LEDs: I either have to use a
tweezers to attach the LED after mounting the hard drive, or attach the
LED then try to be ultra-careful while mounting the hard drive.

Is it okay to use a piece of electrical tape to attach the LED wire to
the drive itself?

Does anyone have any other ideas how to improve this situation?

Thanks!
Matt

Matt,

Are you wanting to see the scsi I/O like you would if you connected
the case LED to the motherboard? If so, and you have an add-on scsi
card (not scsi built into your motherboard), then get the docs for your
scsi card. You can attach the connector there.

Solder some conenctor pins on the drive, then use a cable to connect
the LED.
