question: ldp.exe failed to connect via port 636 with ip address but connects
by hostname OK[from client pc or PDC (windows 2000 server)], [Question1] is
there any any potential problem with LDAPS on the PDC with this test result?

Reason for question is homeoffice device, which is authenticating via LDAPS
is having problem and want to verify that LDAPS on PDC is working
correctly...

I've been searching this newsgroup and many post point to certificate issue,
[Question2]how do I verify the the certificate is working correctly on PDC (I
know certificate services is installed already)?

status of homeoffice device when requesting a certificate is always
'requesting...' [Question3]is there any tools or utilities that I can use to
verify/request certificate from LDAPS on PDC to verify that server side is
not an issue?

You must use the name in the cert or the client will drop the connection
(FIN,ACK) to the server as untrusted.

I.E. Specify the fully qualified domain controller name or fully qualified
domain name.
