Why does the LDB file of a back-end database still have my computer name
listed in it, when I no longer have the database open?

As long as the LDB file exists, it shows a history of who was in the
database. Closing out of the DB does not remove you from the file.

When everyone gets out, the file is closed and destroyed.

It depends. Your information in your "slot" stays in the LDB file.
But when another user opens the MDB and your "slot" is the next
available it will get overwritten.
