LDAP queries

Hi,

A couple of quick questions:

1) Has anybody come across a good tool for forming LDAP queries? You can do
some really powerful stuff with them but I find myself getting in a muddle
with all the brackets and I can't help feeling there must be an easier way!

2) Is there a quick way to bulk export a list of queries from the ADUC
console (W2K3)? I know you can do it one by one but I've created quite a few
and it's irritating not having them available on both domain controllers and
exporting/importing them all manually doesn't look like fun.

Thanks

Well, how about scripting it with VBScript? Or do you looking for a GUI
tool?

Depends. If you mean for constructing LDAP queries, I don't mind. I did
think of scripting it but wondered whether someone had already done it to
save me reinventing the wheel.

As for the second, I can't see any way of scripting the ADUC console to
extract the query info (or to create new queries) other than using SendKeys
and for a one-off job that's usually more hassle than it's worth. I was
hoping to find them all stored in the Registry somewhere, but I guess I'm
not going to be that lucky!

The main reason for doing this, for anyone curious, is that it allows me to
view the A.D. as a physical representation (i.e. in terms of buildings,
floors, etc) based on the location/physicalDeliveryOfficeName attributes. I
find that rather handy when I want to see at an instant who shares an office
or whether a bunch of PCs exhibiting network problems are on the same
floor/building.

Have done, thanks. But whilst it's got loads of detail on scripting AD
itself, I couldn't see anything related to the ADUC consoles' saved queries
section. I suppose I could knock up a script to generate the same output but
I just like the idea of having it all in the same place. Oh well, another
suggestion for the product feedback team I guess!
