ldap MAPI_E_CALL_FAILED

I had outlook 2k2 using LDAP directory and it worked fine..
I upgraded to 2k3 and I get MAPI_E_CALL_FAILED when I try to get to my LDAP directory.

Usually I load the LDAP but clicking the address book Icon, and doing a search for a period. (all addresses contain a period).

Knowlege base says this is a 2k2 problem fixed with service pack 2

Except for upgradding FROM 2k2 im using outlook 200

UPDATE: This problem occured on the MSDN version of office

I purchased a volume license version (should be same though?) and uniinstalled / reinstalled and I don't get this error any longer.
