LCD or Video Card - PLEASE HELP

T

I have a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256 MB and a Samsung TFT 19" SyncMaster
191N. When I am playing games, I noticed many squares on the screen.
It looks like an old video card. This happens when I play MS Flight
Simulator 2004 or FIFA 2005 or NHL 2005 etc.. First I thought it was
the card and I tried all the possible configuration but nothing
changed.

It seems that my LCD is not proper for games. Please let me know
what’s wrong. Also, I need advise for a new monitor(s). I am in the
photography business and I need the best LCD 23"+ for photography and
games as well. I have a AMD 64 + Asus K8V SE Deluxe + 1 GB Corsair +
many SATA HDDs....

PLEASE HELP.

Thank you.

Regards,

ThePremier

Have you checked the temperature of the card itself when these squares
appear? If they only appear when playing games then the card may be
getting too hot during the games. You might also want to monitor the
voltages from your power supply to make sure that it is not having
problems with the load during the games.

AFAIK (I only have CRTs myself) LCDs generally have a 'native'
resolution that they are made for, ThePremier, and don't give such
good results at other resolutions. Some LCDs deal with this better
than others.

Some games will reset your resolution for you, and some you may set to
a lower resolution yourself to improve performance in the game.
However, moving away from the monitor's native resolution may well
give a 'blocky' appearance to the display. If you need to run games
at different resolutions to your monitor's native one, try to choose
one that's a simple fraction or multiple of that resolution.

Sony sdm p234 im using an its 23 inch wide screen an it plays games very
well. But at 60 htz refresh rate and wait for vertical sycn is allways on in
ati propertys too or else it suffers from laggy movement in bf2 game. But
with out sync on is good for bench testing. For speed it guaratee steady 62
frames per second sync on in most games as long as i stay to at least
1280x768 but have had it higher on certain games battlefeild 2 doesnt like
higher due to demanding graphics in game. Little jerky at higher but truly a
really nice monitor but like allmost 2,600 bucks. Try setting vertcal sync
on in ati propertys with youre monitor. This monitor is simply a treat to
play games or dvds on or veiw pictures on. I am however running a ati xt850
pro.
