latest ie6sp1 crit upd breaks scroll bar click

at the moment i dont have the exact critical update
number that winxpsp1 asked me to download/install.

anyway, after installing it - whenever i go to a
website and click on the vertical scrollbar from
the mouse, i get a DOUBLE-scroll. it used to be
a 80% scroll down the page, but now i cant read
anything without carefully clicking in the single
arrow-down scroll area.

is there a setting i can change to fix this?

i thought i remembered a mouse-driver item that
would allow me to speicfy whether scrolls were
page-length or 3 lines or whatever. i cannot find
these settings anymore, and it seems to only affect
ie6 with this new update.

help? thanks, h

this link doesnt seem to answer my question:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?
url=/technet/security/bulletin/MS03-048.asp

also, after testing ive found that it will do
a correct single-scroll if my mouse pointer is
within 1 screenful down on the scroll bar. it
seems to only affect me when i have the mouse at
the bottom of the scroll bar.

several reboots and other items (like decreasing
the mouse sensitivity) have not affected this yet...

I see this same problem on both machines I have running
WinXP. It happened with the IE6 SP1 update on November
12. The DOUBLE-SCROLL problem is on both the vertical and
horizontal scrollbars.

ON Win 98....Control Panel, Mouse, Button tab, drop-down list for number of
lines, screen, etc. for scrolling. Hope this helps
