New reference files for Ad-Aware and SpywareBlaster are available. Use the
internal update feature of the respective programs to obtain these most
recent additions. Remember, SpywareBlaster has no ability to update
automatically so you must do this manually to obtain it.

Using WXP-Pro, I've downloaded and extracted the current zip file from
lavasoft to the ad-aware folder. Upon opening the program it show the
updated reffile but when I press on web update it trys to send me the old
(May 2003) reffile- what to do please?
Thanks!

I'm not quite certain of what you mean here. Customarily when one updates
Ad-Aware through it's internal update feature, it is automatically installed
to the proper location without any intervention or manipulation on the part
of the user.
If you already had a Lavasoft folder in program files (C:\Program Files I
would presume) then there is *no* zip file involved for updates if one uses
it's self-updating mechanism. This is the best way to do it as a rule.
The present most recent reference files are: 01R265 .02.03.2004

Why not give that a try?

Maybe what I should have said was that when you use the internal update, one
needn't bother with placing the refile in the Lavasoft folder manually. As
to *why* when you wish to update by the conventional means it wants to
install an old refile is beyond me. It has worked without flaw for me,
always had, and does so even now.

I suggest you remove the "old" new -zip-file obtained- file from the
Lavasoft folder and install a "new" refile via update within Ad-Aware. See
what you get. If the problem continues, then I am at a loss as to why.

Re-obtain your zip file reference file (from lavasoft download page) and
again place it into the lavasoft folder, if the aforementioned insists on
failing. Still baffled.

AB- I had the exact same problem. Every, I would check for updates, it kept
offering me the "latest reference file" from 5-7-2003, despite the fact that
I was trying to update in December/2003!

Your copy of the program has become corrupt. Uninstall it and reinstall a
fresh copy. It worked for me.
