Last Windows Update Problem (not booting even in safe mode)

R

Radu Colceriu

Hi

After the last automatic windows update (09 Jul 08) the notebook is
booting in a loop.

Boot -> Black screen with the mouse cursor -> restart.

This happens also in the safe-mode. No applications/hardware were
installed in the meantime.

If I make a repair from the Vista DVD I get the message:
(approx. translation from German)

Found error source:
A patch is preventing the system start.
Action taken: checking integrity and repairing the system files.
Error code : 0xa

I can send the error detail to Microsoft but this doesn't help me much :p

I don't have a repair point set or the repair application cannot find one.

Does anyone have an idea how can I fix it?
It is possible to uninstall an "patch" from the repair cd?
I would really don't want to re-install everything because is a company
notebook with a lot of stuff installed.

Any help will be much appreciated.

P.S. Windows Ultimate x86 no SP1, dell xps 1330

Try booting with the Vista DVD and do a System Restore to before you
installed the patch. There is also free support for issues related to
updates if System Restore doesn't work.

Following my earlier posting, I have been into Advance Boot Options -
Last known Good Configuration, Safe Mode, Repair, System Recovery all
fail to resolve the problem.
Blue error screen with errrors: 0x0000007B
(0X81005BA0,0XC0000034,0X00000000,0X00000000)
I cannot get past the Stop message.

Follow Malke's advice and boot with the dvd and do a system restore.

Thank you - you are absolutely correct, it is working fine now.
This was the first time I had attempted something like this and would
not have done so without a detailed magazine article with step by step
instructions.
If some expert would like to post such an article I am sure it would
save many people much anxiety.

You're welcome.
