Last Save Directory in OE6

After installing the latest "critical" patch for OE6 it no
longer remembers my last saved directory. For example, if
I open an attachment from USENET and save it to a
directory, the next time I go to save an attachment it
defaults back to my documents and I have to navigate to
where I want to save the file again and again. It did not
do this before the patch, or since I uninstalled the
patch. I'd like to have the patch installed, but it is
not worth it with this bug. Any thoughts, ideas or
information is appreciated.
