Last Entry

Hi All,

I'm kinda stuck. Basically I have a growing spreadsheet (4500 lines at the
moment) which log the daily irregular attendance of over 400 staffs. I
have two sheets, one to record the daily irregularities and the other to
keep a tally of each staff for a period of 12 months from the last entry.
The first sheet contains the date of entry(column A), name of the staff(B),
a code for the infraction(C), and a brief description(D).
The second sheet contains the names of each staff (A), date of last entry
(B), followed by the count of number of infractions listed under different
codes (about 5) but goes as far back as only one year from the date of last
entry.
I could use the sumproduct function to get a count for each code but I am
stuck on obtaining the date of last entry for each staff. Could someone
point me in the right direction please?
Thank You

This problem occurs because you have entered your data at the bottom of the
table. The most recent data is the last data.

First invert the table. As you add new records, just insert a blank row at
the top and put the data there. A simple VLOOKUP() will always find the most
recent item.

Thank you, just what the doctor ordered!
