Laserjet 4250 Tray 1 Problems

Tray 1 loaded with paper. Most of the time printer will pull paper from
Tray 2. I have to open Tray 2 to force printer to pull paper from Tray
1. It was my understanding that the printer default was to pull paper
from Tray 1 if loaded.

Never had this problem with my 4 Plus or 4000.

Can you check the printer internal configuration and see if "Tray 1 size" and
"Tray 1 type" are both set to "ANY", this is the correct setting for your needs
I think. These options are in the "Paper Handling" menu. You should also check
to see if the driver has any settings that are wrong, for instance is there a
setting for paper type or size that overides the printer internal setting for
tray 1 or a setting for a paper type that specifies Manual tray instead of Tray
1.
