Large table

Hello All

A2K, W2k professional, 256mb ram

I am having to work with a table that has at least 2 million records: I
don't know exactly how many because when I open the table and try to do
anything it takes forever. Even clicking ctrl-end to get to the last record
takes longer than I'm prepared to wait (no action in 10 minutes). I tried
tools>analyse>documenter, and selected the table, but that resulted in an
'analysis' that claimed the record count was minus 1!!

Any queries, filters etc. are also unusably slow.

What can I do? There are only 8 fields, all text or number, and it would be
extremely usful if I could do some simple stuff with it.
