Large number of outgoing packets

I'm having a strange problem with a huge number of
outgoing packets over my network connection. There are
literally billions of outgoing packets to the few hundred
received. I'm using the Intel(r)PRO/100 VE network
connection. I've been diligent about updating and have
scanned for viruses and worms. Has anyone seen this
problem before??

Probably a bug in the network adapter driver. You might try getting a more
recent driver from Intel.
