Large excel file with little or no data in it

I have an Excel 97 spreadsheet containing two pages.

On Friday the file was 400kb but since adding a few more if statements
it is over 3mb.

Does anyone have any idea why this may have happend and any possibl
was of reducing the file size as it takes and age to open and save?

THanks for that.

Those links were helpful in reducing the file size but I wil
eventually want to go much further down the sheet, 1000s of rows.

When I copy my formulas down the columns, this just bloats the fil
size.

Any further ideas

Don't copy the formulas until you need them?

(not quite what you were looking for, huh?)

David McRitchie has a macro that will ask the user how many rows to insert and
copy the formulas from the row above.
