Laptop w/wireless & wired NIC won't network properly

I have a desktop that is connected (by cable) to a
LinkSys WRT54G wireless router. The router is connected
on the WAN port to a cable modem, and wirelessly to a
laptop. The problem that I have is that the laptop has
both a wireless NIC as well as a 10/100 Wired NIC. I
don't use the wired NIC and have disabled it. I get
internet connectivity flawlessly, however, the laptop
insists on connecting to the home network (file/print
sharing) using the wired NIC. Evidence of this can be
seen when running the Network Setup Wizard. The last step
where you are to confirm the new settings, it lists a
section for internet and one for home network. The laptop
shows "Wireless Connection" for internet but "Local Area
Connection" for home network. "Local Area Connection" =
wired NIC. The wizard doesn't give you and option for
setting the connection for home network, only for
internet. Where is the setting to manually change this??
This is the only thing that I can find to explain why I
cant share files/folders. I have already gone through
both computers and set up netbios, file & print sharing,
simple file shareing is disabled on both and is set for
classic. Norton Personal Firewall on both computers is
set to allow the IP address of the other computer. Both
computers have unique names and are set for the same
workgroup. I have tripple checked everything I can think
of and have read in the newsgroup. Any help would be
greatly apreciated.

Run the Network Setup Wizard again on the laptop and make these
settings:

1. When it asks you to select a connection method, tell it that the
computer connects to the Internet through a "residential gateway",
which is what it calls your wireless router.

2. If it says that your computer has multiple connections:

a. Tell it to let you choose the connections to your network.
b. Put a check mark in the box for the wireless connection.
c. Un-check the boxes for all other connections.
