Laptop Drives for USB 2.0 (4200 v. 5400)

I've been looking for information about USB 2.0 performance using
external 5400 rpm 2-1/2" drives versus 4200. I'm inclinded to believe
that there would be little difference in performance for backing up
large images. Has anyone seen any info or had experience with this?
Thanks.

Maybe that depends on how you backup large images. Can you provide more
info?

Really depends on what you use to create the images.

Most imaging apps dont produce the image at
anything like the thruput of the 4200 rpm drives.

Thanks for the replies! I'm primarily interested in using a (very
compact) USB 2.0, 2-1/2" external drive with Drive Image 7 to
make/store backups of my desktops drives. This way, I just make the
backups and put the whole external drive safely away.

In that case 4200rpm will work just as good as 5400rpm drive.

Only if the STR of both the drives exceed the transfer limit of USB2
(which is around 35MB/s or so) and then they will take the exact same
time even if one is faster than the other.
Has anyone seen any info or had experience with this?

Will you be sitting there and timing your backups?
If not, what do you care whether your backup ended half
an hour ago or 15 minutes ago while you took a long nap.
