New HP laptop

The computer periodically goes into a mode where the drive spins up/down
several times a minute.

Any clues on how to resolve this problem? I have not contacted HP yet..

Thanks,

It's probably doing file indexing. You can always disable file the indexing
service.

OK, I'll give that a shot.

The laptop has 2 physical disks of 150 Gbyte each with C: and a recovery
partition on one and nothing on the other.

What impact is turning off indexing on C: likely to have?

Thanks,

It only has some kind of impact if you're doing a lot of searching/finding
of files and whatnot on the computer.
