laptop cpu temp

Hello, I am in need of some input regarding a cpu temp. The unit in
question is a Toshiba Satellite A70. It has a P4 Prescott @ 3066mhz
with 1.5gb pc2700 ram. Toshiba specs. have the max cpu operating temp
at 95F,when running Everest 2.20 the cpu temp is displayed at 102F.
Both the fans are set to max cooling , the heatsink and fans have been
blown clean recently. I have also checked the bios for a health check
but there isn't one reported The pc runs great and I have had no
shutdowns, but the temp difference bugs me. Should I concerned? Is
this difference ok? Thanks in advance for any inputs.

The "Toshiba Spec" of 95F is more likely an environmental spec -- the temp of
the room you're working in.

Intel (http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SL9CA) shows a
thermal limit of 67.7C (153.8F) for the CPU.

The P4 is not a good CPU for a laptop, because it runs so hot (84W thermal
design power vs 25-35W for a current mobile C2D). Some mfgrs shoehorned them in
laptops in an attempt to create "desktop replacements."

102F? In terms of CPU, that's barely above room temperature. You shouldn't
worry at all unless you see it getting over 130F. Even then, it might not
be a problem for the processor, it would just be an indication that your
heatsink might be clogged with dust or something minor. -Dave

BTW, if it's actually a Mobile P4M CPU, Intel
(http://www.intel.com/Assets/PDF/datasheet/253028.pdf) sez it has a 70W TDP and
a 74C (165.2F) max operating temp. It also runs at only 1.6 GHz when on battery
power...

Thanks for the replies to both Dave and JR Weiss. As for you Conor,
you may as well go **** yourself you narrow minded little ****. I have
seen some of your other replies and I would have to think that you may
have some mental issues. Seek professional help. Do you not often
wonder why you have no friends?. No one placed the responsibilty upon
you to reply to every inquire,so in the future if you have nothing
positive to add, then simply don't respond and go back to jerking off.

You're better off to simply ignore him, rather than continue to encouragehim by
responding in kind.

It's not like me to lash out, don't like his ignorance. You are
right, sound advice..Thanks again

I believe you're fine since 95F is almost surely the maximum ambient
temperature for the entire computer, not just the CPU. Furthermore
102F is nothing to worry about for the CPU.

As for you Conor,
you may as well go **** yourself you narrow minded little ****.

Couldn't give a **** about the opinion of a dumb **** too stupid to be
able to search for an answer to one of the most asked questions in IT.

Still, there are universities full of clueless cunts like you who have
to be spoonfed everything because they're too stupid to be able to go
find out for themselves.

I don't like illiteracy like yours but I guess we all have our crosses
to bear.
