Hi,
Sorry to double post, but getting nowhere fast with other posts....wondering
if this problem is worse that we originally thought?
Our setup:
Desktop PC (Win XP)
Wireless Laptop (Win XP)
Belkin ADSL Router
The desktop is connected with a network cable to the router. The laptop
connects wirelessly.
Both can access the Internet.
We're trying to set up a workgroup so that we can share files between each
machine, and also allow the laptop to share the Desktop's printers.
We had it working ONCE but, since a re-boot, it's all gone AWOL again and we
just can't get it to work again.
Chasing up some other tech support, we were told to try "pinging" each
machine.
We are doing this by IP, and when we ping IP from the laptop, to the
desktop, it provides us with a response.
However, when we try this the other way around, we get "Request Timed Out".
Does this mean the fault is on the laptop or on the desktop?
We've double checked the IP addresses we're using, ran through the create
network wizard at least 20 times, renamed the workgroup, renamed the PC's,
double checked TCP/IP settings (both are set to obtain IP and DNS
automatically).
Any advice on what to try next would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Regards
nath.
