lap top locking up

my lap top is just locking up and it is not just on
certain programs it will do it on any program when it
does you have to power it down it won't do anything else.

You haven't given us enough information to get a specific answer.
However, it does sound like your laptop is having hardware problems.
Call the mftr.'s tech support for help.
