Language problems

Adam

I have a Japanese OS which came with Movie maker 1, but
when I try to download the English update to MM2, and
although I select language as English, it automatically
defaults to the Japanese Version because it obviously
detects that my PC is in Japanese. I want have tried
many times but no matter what I do, it will not give me
the English Version....can anyone help?

Hi Adam,

As you seem to have been passed over I thought I would see if I can help

I have never done this and the one person who could tell me immediately
is not at hand...So

I may be quite wrong about this, I think that the first step must be to
create a new user account, then if that account has admin rights log on into
that account or just log in as an Administrator anyway.

Then, I think you need to go into the Control Panel and add information
to the "Regional and Language Options" in particular the Languages
section...the language needs to be on the machine before the user can access
it (Take a look at the Details Tab)

Now, looking at the Advanced tab, its clear you need to log on as the
user you want to modify....In order that windows can operate properly it
needs a code page for the language used...so select the appropriate one and
then apply it to the new account. It may also be an idea to remove from this
new user account the Japanese language option, therby forcing windows down
one route only for this account.

Finally, whilst loggen in this new account you can install Windows Movie
Maker in English or whatever other language you require.

Thats my best shot (without actually trying it myself) I hope it works
out for you.
