Language bar not switching languages

Allie

Hi Folks,

I have XP pro with all the current service packs applied. I have
English and Spanish (Panama) set up as languages, both using a US
keyboard. It used to be that when I switched to Spanish (SP), I would
be able to, for example, type an apostrophe ('), followed by an "o" to
get an ó. That no longer works for some reason, and I just get an
apostrophe followed by an "o" ('o). So, it doesn't seem to be
changing the language to Spanish.

Any help is much appreciated! I've searched around for a solution, to
no avail. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Best,
Allie

Yep, IE7 is installed. Ugh - if this is the problem, my question is:
what has the installation of IE7 _not_ broken?

To keep track of things, it helps immensely if you include all of previous
message(s) in your replies to the newsgroup. Thank you.

You may have a horked install of IE7. I suggest reading the following
link...

....and then uninstalling and reinstalling IE7 per Sandi's tips, and using
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx as the installation source,
not Automatic/Windows Update.

Hello PA Bear,

Thanks for your input. I decided to uninstall ie7, as it seems to be
conflicting with lots of things. However, upon restarting, my
language bar has not started functioning again. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Allie

Goodness - I'm not sure. It was a while ago now that I installed
ie7. I think I'd feel uncomfortable setting my system so far back,
even if there was a restore point available then...

Thanks,
Allie

Your discomfort is appropriate. You can hardly ever go back more than a week
or two without the severe risk of creating more problems that you started
with.

And you can't go back more than 90 days total, so if it it was more than
that, System Restore isn't even an option.

Thanks for the confirmation on that point. So, any other ideas about
what might be causing this problem? I haven't found many others
complaining about this. Alas, never good to be someone with a unique
problem! ;-)

Thanks,
Allie

Sorry, no. I know next to nothing about the language bar.
