Langauge pack standalone download

Terry

Hi,

At one time, before SP1, there were standalone downloads for the languages
on Vista, but after the SP1 release, the old language pack standalone
downloads don't work, and I can't seem to find any that're SP1 compatible,
even though there are the langauge packs I require on the automatic update
list.

For the sake of explaination, I ship a lot of PC's to foreign countries, and
downloading language packs constantly is a huge pain, which was the joy of
pre-SP1 language packs. I've been sifiting through google results, and
Microsoft.com results, for the past few days and not been getting anywhere,
and decided to post here.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated,

Many thanks,

Terry

I have never seen stand-alone language packs for Vista for download.
Only for XP. Where did you find those?

They were floating around the net at one point. I did somewhat doubt their
origins, but they worked, and now due to some changes made by SP1, they don't
(As has been detailed in other discussions).

Since Microsoft seem to be happy to release service pack redistributables, I
assumed that they might do the same for language packs. Am I sorely mistaken?

No, the language packs for Vista are not available for download
"as is" from any legal source that I know of.

You can only get them with Windows Update, machine by machine.
There are probably some arangements for OEMs and big companies,
but not for mere mortals like us.

Here is a blurb on the Vista MUI availability:

It shows that people care about MUI, but there is no way to get them.

Yeah, I did doubt their origins somewhat, but I'm like a moth to the flame
when it comes to getting things done without having to download the same
things over and over again.

I did scan through the link (I'm a little snowed under at the moment, and
won't get a chance to read it through properly until later in the weekend),
and it seems to address the whole "Why can't I install a langauge pack on my
Home Premium box" situation, but I'mshipping these machines with Ultimate
installed for the language packs.

Ahwell, if there's no chance of it happening, then I'm SOL and will just
have to download the darned things several times a week via Windows Update.
