There used to be a way that I could send a message to another computer
on my LAN, using Windows 98. How can I send a message to another
computer with no action required to receive the message? Winchat is
neat, but Network DDE has to be running on both computers, and the
recipient has to have Winchat open also.

You can use the command "net send". Make sure the "messenger"
service is running on the receiving machine.
