LAN file copy failure

recently I have been having trouble copying some files over a LAN from one
WinXP pro to another similar machine. Copy from a shared folder to the other
computer on the LAN stops and times out at a certain point. The 137mb file is
good, will copy to local drives, just not over the LAN. Discovered this when
Retrospect Remote backup started failing because of a "communication error."

Both computers have new drives and seem to otherwise function properly over
the LAN, web downloads, etc. It seems just the machine-to-machine transfer is
having trouble.

I'm at a loss to figure out how to troubleshoot this - anyone have any ideas?

thanks!

followup - files <100MB transfer fine - and the large files transfer OK to a
3rd computer on the LAN - it's just this one that won't copy anything larger
than 100MB. (A to B : B won't finish the copy. A to C: all files copy OK.)

When I try to map a shared folder on B on the A machine, I get the error
message "The mapped network drive could not be created because the following
error has occurred: Not enough server storage is available to process this
command."

So something is misbehaving on the B "server"machine - but what???
