Theresa

I am having a problem with the Internet connection on my
computer and seem to be stumped. I have a DSL internet
connection and there doesn't seem to be a problem with the
connection itself, for example browsing the web using IE
but when I try to access the web through various programs
such as MS Money or the MS Help and Support Center located
on the start menu on Win XP, the programs themselves don't
seem to detect my LAN connection!!! I mean - I'm not a
computer genius or anything but I do know enough to feel
comfortable trying to resolve most issues on my own before
seeking help and this one has me lost!

I have contacted Microsoft and they can't seem to help me,
I have contacted my ISP and they seem to thing it's a
setting/problem in MS Money (despite the fact that Money
is not the only program affected, ugh!), which of course
they can't help me with.

I did find MS Knowledge Base Article - 818060 and I think
it might have something to do with the issue I am having.
It says something about an issue with automatic
configuration and proxy settings and applies to MS IE 6.0
SP1 (I'm using Version: 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633
Update Versions:; SP1; Q824145; Q832894; Q837009; Q831167,
which I think applies???)

If anyone can help or knows what the problem is, please
please let me know. Thanks a bunch!

Hi,

Can you describe the connection from your computer to
the internet (modems/routers/firewalls/switches/hubs). If
you have firewalls these can sometimes block the ports
that these programs use.
