Pptp is easier to configure, compatible with NAT devices, and can be secure
if mschapv2 is used and strong passwords are enforced [like complex and at
least ten characters. L2tp uses a stronger encryption via ipsec, creates the
tunnel BEFORE user authentication is done, and also insures intergrity and
authenticity. L2tp however will not work over NAT without the NAT-T client
and a NAT-T VPN server such as Windows 2003, and a computer certificate is
required for both the VPN server and VPN client for Windows 2000. --- Steve
