Kyocera FS-C5016N Color Printer Feedback

Does anyone have any experience with this printer? How is the reliability?
What is the cost per page, particularly with lots of color ink coverage
(40-50%)?

Thanks,

If you look at pcpro.co.uk you should find a fairly recent review that
put it as their recommended printer.

We have two Kyocera printers for our village newsletter. An A3 duplex mono
laser the 9100DN.

It is very quick and hardly gets any slower with duplex, very good quality
and used for our village newsletter. Memory increased from 32 meg to 160 meg
and made a large difference in print speed for complex Publisher documents.

For the inside colour supplement we use the C5016DN.

It uses the consumables basically as advised by Kyocera. The black and
yellow go first, then the magenta and cyan. Overall the average toner rate
is 8000 A4 prints per toner cartridge.

Speed wise if it is a mono single sided letter it does 16 pages per minute.
In duplex it goes down to 8 pages a minute.

If you change some of the text to colour there is no change in print speed.

If you put say four small pictures in the letter it will go down to say 4
pages a minute and the same in duplex.

I increased the memory from the standard 96 meg to 224 meg by putting in a
128 stick from crucial.

The speed increased from say 4.3 pages per minute to 4.15 pages per minute.
While going from 32 to 160 on the 9100 doubled the print speed on complex
graphics.

Reliable but the duplexer is noisy and the few paper jams we have had have
been in the duplexor.

If you do a large print run it stops to calibrate and fill itself with toner
during runs.
