KVM switch problems

Hi

Approximately one year ago I bought a IOGEAR KVM switch (GCS632U), which I
have been using between my
company PC (HP NC8000 with port replicator) and my own PC (Pentium III 700
MHz), and this has been working perfectly.

Now I have bought a new PC, which consist of the following:

Asus A8N-SLI premium motherboard
AMD Athlon 3700+
Asus EN6600 Silencer graphics card
1 GB (2x512 MB) Kingston RAM
200 GB Western Digital SATA II HD.

The problem is that whenever I connect the KVM, the mouse cursor is moving
in steps, and keystrokes are repeated forever.
This happens only on my new PC. The KVM is working perfectly with the HP
NC8000.

If I connect the Keyboard and the mouse directly to the new PC, it is
working perfectly.
I have upgraded the BIOS, but unfortunately this did not help.

Anybody who has a clue to what the problem is, and how it can be solved?

You sure you correctly connected the mouse and keyboard plugs ? Power
down both PCs then make the connections.

Yes, I am pretty sure, because I am able to switch between the 2 PC's with 2
x "scrl lck"
I have tried to switch the keyboard and the mouse, but this doesn't help
(and I am not able to switch with 2 x "scrl lck").

Please be aware that this is an USB2 KVM Switch, and therefore there is only
one connection (USB) to each of the PC's.

I have the same problem with the same IOGEAR GSC632U switch and sam
ASUS A8N-SLI motherboard... my other computer works just fine

I am not sure if it's incompability with switch & motherboar
(maybe another USB KVM switch can work) or it is just a motherboar
problem

I think that motherboard has a problem because mouse & keyboar
are on one USB port

I think that motherboard has a problem because mouse & keyboard are on one
USB port.

I use the AirLink multimedia it's PS/2 so I still use the USB mice
connected to each pc. Keyboard and audio work perfectly.

Well, I found out what the problem is..

Apparently IOGEAR USB switches are not compatible with NVIDIA
Motherboards

I was told this by IOGEAR's Technical Support Team, one solution is t
buy PCI card with USB Ports. I did it and the problem is solved

I am not happy that I had to get PCI card that eats one IRQ in orde
to get 2 additional USB port on the computer that already had 10 US
ports... but the problem is solved and now my second computer wit
NVIDIA4 chipset works great

I was also told that engineers from IOGEAR are working with NVIDI
ones in order to resolve incompatibility problem... one if and whe
it is resolved, hopefully I’ll get BIOS upgrade or KVM firmware an
everything will be OK without the PCI card but for now I am jus
happy that works

Great, I think I'll buy a PCI card too.
Any particular brand or just a noname PCI card?

Thank you very much.

Any PCI Card with 2 or more USB Ports will do.

I got generic (no name) one with 2 USB ports it was $19.99
