hello everyone,
I am a win2k user.
Hardware:
I have 2 computers (comp1 and comp2) But one monitor, connected with a KVM
Switch.
Today:
Comp2 switched off. Working only with comp1, on a word document. Suddenly
monitor turned off. No, Not power settings in the computer. I turned off
comp1 and tried a restart. Didnt work. tried with comp2, monitor works well.
Unplugged monitor cable and plugged again.
now comp1 detects the monitor. But i see that the document i was working on
is erased from the disk. Infact there is not even a single file that i have
created since the last graceful shutdown. But i had saved my doc, many
times. So i should have atleat some part of it. What appeared to be a simple
monitor or KVM switch problem turned out to be a disk problem. the file is
completely erased from disk. Does any one have any ideas, as what could have
been the problem??
Note: I have saved the doc a hundred times. So i dont expect the file to
just disappear, as if it never existed. (even though the restart wasnt
graceful enough)
Thanks for your time
Prakash
