KVM switch and Wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 ...

Dear all,

As a follow-up of my previous post regarding the horizontal scroll function
on my Wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 (WIE 2.0). I figured out that my
KVM switch is causing the problem. That is, when I directly connect the WIE
to the machine, it works fine; it only doesn't work when I connect it to the
KVM switch.

My KVM switch is ATEN brand, which is quite an expensive one already
(~US$100 for 4 ports). Should I go buy a better one? Do you know of any
brands of KVM switch that will work with the horizontal scrolling function?
Or if you are also using a KVM switch with the WIE 2.0, please kindly let me
know.

The WIE 2.0 is really a great mouse and I want to make use of its great
features very much.

Thanks very much in advance.

Is your KVM an auto-switch? At that price range, I'm guessing it is. I
have had innumerable problems with auto KVM switches. Maybe a manual-type
switch (where you actually flip a switch to change the outputs, instead of a
keystroke or similar) would help you. That would depend on the aesthetics
of your space though.

I have numerous Linksys KVMs, all using wireless keyboards and rodents. They
work flawlessly. I don't have any WIEs though.

Colon,

Thanks for your suggestion. My KVM also works fine with other wireless
mouse (e.g. Logitech) too. The thing is the "new" features like horizontal
scrolling may ask for more from the KVM fabric to work perfectly ...

But anyway, I might just give Linksys a try. I used to have one long time
ago as well, and it worked great too ...

Regards,

Patrick

Hi, Im using a Dlink 4 port KVM switch
and had the same problem but there was a command for the KVMswitch to
find new information from the devices (2x scrolllock + M) this worked
for me
