Keyboard Won't Type

I have a unique problem that I can't figure out and it
applies to both Excel 97 and Word 97. Basically, the
keyboard will not type anything into either of these
applications. You can use the mouse to do things, you can
copy and paste, you can use the = symbol in Excel but when
you hit a key on the keyboard in a cell (Excel) or a
document (Word), nothing types. I have never encountered
this problem before. I have copied over the entire
Microsoft Office directory from a like PC and it still
doesn't work. This program is running Windows XP but even
when MS Office was updated to Office XP, the same problem
existed. Anybody ever seen or heard of this problem? If
so, what is the solution? I have tried the CTRL-D and
going into Visual Basic, even resetting the task bars but
still nothing. I am plum out of ideas...Help!!!

Have you thought of trying another keyboard on this computer? Could be a
hardware problem.

Possibly a font problem? Try using the pulldown to choose a different
font and see if it works.

Or perhaps someone's playing a joke on you and set the default text
color to white in both applications?
