I have keyboard switch which allows me to switch mouse, keyboard and
monitor, between two PCs. After starting windows the mouse & keyboard
are OK for 1st 30 seconds and then both stop responding. If I restart
then it is OK. So I end up booting twice every time. Why does windows
loose the mouse and keyboard on the 1st boot, how can I change this ?

That is called a KVM switch (keyboard-video-mouse). The problem isn't
in Windows or in your computer. The problem is with the KVM switch. I
bet if you remove the KVM and reboot that the keyboard and mouse remain
usable after the 30 seconds. Guess you'll have to read the manual for
the KVM switch, especially since you didn't mention WHICH one you have.
If the KVM switch offers you the choice of using PS/2 or USB ports for
the keyboard and mouse, use the PS/2 ports for those devices (and to the
computer).

It is a newlink. I tried all inputs mentioned in the manual.
