Hello,

I created a keyboard shortcut for a private folder I use a lot, but is
it necessary to also have the shortcut icon hanging on the desktop? Only
interested in the keyboard shortcut. Clearly, deleting the shortcut icon
also disables the keyboard shortcut. Also tried to move the 'icon'
shortcut to another folder, away from the desktop, but this disables the
keyboard shortcut too. I also applied 'hidden' to it but it's still
visible since I want hidden files to be visible... Any way to resolve
this? Thanks

You can also put your shortcut in the start menu, which also keeps it as
permanent like the desktop. Create a special folder within it for your
keyboard shortcut links.

Thanks Jon, but still when I delete the shortcut from the desktop (don't
want it there) the keyboard s/c doesn't work. If I try and drag the
folder to the start menu, there's no shortcut option in its properties,
and also anyone can see the folders contents from the start menu, which
is also undesirable. The goal is to just have a keyboard shortcut for
opening a single folder, but without having that shortcut as an icon on
the desktop. Anywhere else would be fine.
