You and I must be interpreting the OP's question differently. My reply was
based on navigating within the Folder tree in the left hand pane of
Windows Explorer. For example, navigate to C:\Program Files. Click on the
first three subfolders in succession. If I hit the Backspace key, I return
to C:\Program Files, one level up, not a subfolder.
