Keyboard Programming Question

Is there a way to reprogram a keyboard so that a particular key will output
a set of characters or letters in combination? I am trying to reprogram some
of the buttons on a friend's keyboard that he has in his store. He is using
the QS2000 Quick Sell program, which is a POS software package, along with a
Cherry brand name keyboard. It has extra keys along the right and where the
function keys are, they can be reprogrammed and relabeled, with a pop off
cover.

Thanks for any help.

The programmability is 99% likely to be IN that keyboard; it
needs the related software to store/restore the settings, and
possibly drivers, too; can't say with the info provided. RAM, a
processor, etc. all reside in the keyboard if it's programmable.

That's what I was thinking, but that just confirms things for me. Thanks for
the help.
