Keyboard layout not allowing login

I have a custom-built computer with Windows XP Home edition installed on it,
and I have it set up to where it requires a password for the default account
to start the computer up. I have been using a standard 101-key keyboard, but
recently switched to a 109-key keyboard with the media buttons along the top.
I got the keyboard to work, and the volume knob and mute button to work, but
the play/pause, forward/backward, and stop/eject buttons did not work. I
downloaded the drivers for the keyboard and installed them, but it still
didn't work. I thought to try and restart the system, but when I did that,
the keyboard does not work anymore. The NumLock light is on, and Windows did
not give me an error about a keyboard missing, so I am assuming that I
installed a different layout other than US-English. I cannot login to my
system because I can't type the login name or password. If worse comes to
worse, I can reinstall Windows, all my personal files are on a secondary
harddrive, but I will lose some programs and games that are hard to replace.
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried using your old keyboard to see if you can login?
Maybe then you could uninstall any software that came with the
new computer and try installing it again.

Good luck

The layout is for the default keyboard, or basically any keyboard I plug into
the machine, USB/PS2 alike. I'd try to uninstall the software, but there is
no software I have recently installed, just the new keyboard. I couldn't
uninstall any software anyways, because I cannot not login, and I have tried
safe mode, but its the same as regular, can't login.

After reading your post, I tried LKGConfig, and it worked. Thanks for
helping me out on this.
