I totally disagree. It (transmitter) can be powered via a transformer as in
a switch mode power supply. Without knowing the design you are erroneous in
saying a 1.2v battery operated transmitter will be only 60% of that of a
1.5V operated Xmitter.

You are trying to move the goal posts to bolster your invalid argument.
Take a bluetooth adapter apart, you won't find a voltage converter. The
kind of power that is produced by a bluetooth transmitter circuit is easily
produced from the modest supply voltages used.

60% still stands.

Hi,

I tried using my PC last night in safe mode and it seemed to work OK,
without the keyboard going crazy.

I do not have another keyboard to try.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I can't think of a single application for a Ni-MH battery acceptable to me.
Ni-Cads OK.

You are the one moving the goal posts. That is only one device.
Or, we are talking two different things. If you put a 1.2v battery into a
device
designed for a 1.5v battery I see your point.
But, if you are designing a transmitter a 1.2v battery need not be 60% of a
1.5v battery.
Perhaps we are talking two different things?????

Are you saying the Ma hr rating is lower at a higher discharge rate? By what
factor?

You may have some malware on your PC. If you're really sure
that the machine works fine in Safe Mode then you need to
identify the rogue software. You can do it like so:
- Physically disconnect your machine from the Internet.
- Click Start / Run / msconfig {Enter}
- Untick every item under the Startup tab.
- Click the Services tab, then tick "Hide Microsoft Services".
- Untick every remaining item.
- Reboot the machine normally.

If this solves the problem in Normal Mode then you need
to bring in the various tasks one by one until the problem
reappears. Do not reconnect the machine to the Internet
until your virus protection is reactivated!

Thanks for that, I belive that I have narrowed it down to one service that I
have uninstalled.

I was wondering how I remove this entry from the startup list. The .exe file
it refers to has been deleted.

Thanks.

You can delete it from here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services

Make sure to create a System Restore point before doing this.

Sometimes when I'm typing on my keyboard,

Typing in what program?

suddenly the letters that
appear on the screen are complete gibberish! I think I've mistakenly
hit a wrong key, but I haven't yet figured out which one(s) it is. I am
unable to duplicate the problem. I have to shut the browser window and
open a new one, then it has reset (I guess).

What does the browser have to do with this? Are you typing in the
browser? If so, is it on a particular web site, or does it happen on
any web site?

What browser are you using?

Does the same key always produce the same wrong character, or is it
random?

Next time this happens, please make careful note of what keys you
press and what characters come up as a result. Then repost. You don't
have to do them all, but give us at least a few examples.

If you have two keyboard languages set up, you can sometimes switch
between them (or to the other one) by hitting the Shift+Ctrl keys or
Shift+Alt keys. To enable or disable this feature:

Control Panel->Regional & Language Options->Languages (Tab)-> Details
-> Key Settings -> [Select Option] -> Change Key Sequence.

HTH,
John
