I just loaded XP onto a 3-year-old Dell. Did a clean
update. I can't use the Standby option because of
interference from my MS QuietKey keyboard!?? Or so the
report says.

Probably the "keyboard driver" program.

You may want to see if there is a patch for this problem. Go to the website
for the keyboard and see if there is anything you can download.

I believe Quietkey is a Dell's trade name. MS's Natural Multimedia.
Standby can fail for many reasons. Go to Dell's and check for updates.

And if you find your keyboard's driver at the website, download it, as it
may be an improved version.

It likely wouldn't be a bad idea to reinstall\update your video
drivers, which become corrupted easily and are often responsible for
standby problems. Are you sure your drivers are intended for XP? This
is a frequent problem with an upgrade.
