Keyboard Code & Layout.

I have an IBM ThinkPad 600X laptop (WinXP Pro, SP2). After using an
external keyboard on it, via usb, the laptop keyboard prints/types different
characters other than what shows on the keys. Is there a way for me to set
a code or configure my laptop keyboard to type normally?
Thanks.

It's defaulted to US English alright. What should it be since I'm in Texas,
USA? But it still acts funny. The key for 'P' also has '*' underneath the
'P', and I can't get it to type 'P', and some other keys have such
combinations - U/4, i/5, o/6, and I can't type the letters. The Shift+Key
'8' won't type the '*'.
Your help is highly appreciated.
Thanks again.

Sometimes when you plug in an external keyboard, numlock turns on.
Then when you unplug it doesn't turn off. I think you can hit shift
scroll lock on the thinkpad to toggle num-lock if that is your problem.
