Keyboard and mouse non-functional

Asus motherboard instructions told me to remove the networking drivers before
updating chipset drivers. I removed the networking and display drivers and
rebooted.

On reboot, I'm left with a keyboard that is locked up, a non-functioning
mouse...and Windows XP that seems to be running just fine. I just can't get
into it to do anything.

Setup for a reinstallation crashes for various reasons, the latest of which
says my CD may be corrupt. The CD works in other machines.

Any suggestions to get my keyboard back, mouse back...anything that will
enable me to install the drivers for chipset and display???

reboot into safe mode (hit f8 as comp starts up and choose safe mode)
then go into control panel and update your keybrd and mouse drivers.

Flamer.

it could be a problem with your cd drive, aging equipment gets out of alignment
and refuses to read perfectly good media. try replacing your cd drive, very
affordable these days.

Find, (preferably borrow) a ps 2 keyboard and or mouse and boot up and
install the update. I've had that before, it knocks the USB driver out
