Find the pin-out for the keyboard or the mouse and see if
the 5 volts is really 5 volts.

I appologise for being a lot more than ten minutes.
Well, I feel just a bit perturbed with not having tried
that to begin with. I used a different key board and it
works; not only did I do that, I tried my keyboard on the
other pc here. The problem lies in my keyboard
apparently; but now I am wondering what may cause that?
It has been well maintained; it has not had any abuse or
inflictions, this does not make sense to me. I am truelly
puzzled. That is the second item I have used on this
computer and had it malfuction. The first one was my
mouse. Oh, wait, third item, I went through 'Two' mice
now.........it has only been Five Months!?! All the
equipment I have used for this pc had been 'Brand-Spanking-
New'.......the computer has not iddentified any problems,
and my fiance and I have reviewed the possible locations
and files for any changes made concerning the keyboard. I
went back over the performance logs; I just don't
understand how I can even have possibly gone through two
mice and now a keyboard in such a short period f time. I
have not been able to find any virus on my pc, and as I
stated earlier, I 'Know' my things have been well
maintained. I don't know if you or anyone else may be
able to give an hypothesis, but I would readilly accept
the responces given with or without suggestions. Thank
you much.
