"@ key" mapping reversed with quote marks

Corax

Hi y'all.

Typing in bonny old England here, there is one major
difference with our keyboards. The @ symbol is supposed
to be typed with SHIFT+', whilst quotation marks should
be typed with SHIFT+2.

This was all fine until I downladed a raft of MS Updates,
which appears to have swopped my keys around. Can any
one help?

I am using a corded Logitech Internet Navigator keyboard
on XP Home edition.

Cheers,

Corax.

Hi,

Open Control Panel and select Regional and Language Options.

Change the Kepboard Layout to be United Kingdom (English) and set as
default.

That should do the trick...

Tried that to no effect, sorry.

Thanks anyway.

Please confirm:

1. You have a UK Keyboard (with the £ on Shift 3 key, for example)
2. You have configured in Control Panel, Regional and Lanugage Settings,
Tab: Languages, Button: Details and there you have English UK as both
default and the only installed service (you can have more installed
services, but this simplifies getting you going).
3. On tab: Regional Options, pick "United Kingdom" (I don't think this
has an affect on the keyboard, but I mention it just in case).

If this doesn't work, then probably best to seek advice from keyboard
vendor, Logitech.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Woo-ha.

Solved. Although the settings were all set to UK,
deleting the US keyboard option from the Details Button
section seems to have done the trick. Ta all.

Why is there not a "MASTER" regional setting somewhere?
Come on MS....

Glad you got it fixed. With regard to how the keyboard works, you found
the "master". Yes, hidden under the "details" button, but that the place.

For the other places to set languages and location, these are useful if
you want to let the computer be sort of multi-lingual.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.
