Was the wording of the message like this:
"Memory access violation in module kernel32 at ..."
If so, you have the SWEN/GIBE worm.
It comes from a fake MS update email.

Did you recently get an E-mail message, purportedly from
Microsoft, and installed the attachment it included? If so, it
wasn't from Microsoft (Microsoft never sends out patches by
E-mail) and you installed a virus.
