I have been very pleased with Sygate Personal Firewall. It is friendly,
easy to configure, allows importing of your old settings (of older
verisons) into new installs and seems very vigilent. More info on my

I run that on one of my boxes, but not the one my wife uses. She has a
lot of trouble using noon-micorosft software, so I am appeasing her.
When I posted this, OO.o was not viable since my wife was working from
home, but now that she is not working (and we have 2 PC's) it is not an
issue.
