Hello...

Only the "Play all" in Common Tasks (Video Tasks) in folders is not
working...though all other tasks are...!!!
How to set right the hyperlink for this??

Thanks

Thanks a lot Kelly...but no luck.

Even after applying the edit, "All play" still doesn't function, neither for
audio nor video.

Any other ideas??

As I have a lot of 'players' installed, it could be that the link can't find
the path to the default player to play, as there appears to be a lot of
background activity on clicking 'Play all" before giving up !!!

I have selected all file type association with WMP 9, but still no
improvement.
How do I check the file path for 'All play' link??

Thanks

Hi Ratan,

Try these commands from RUN box:

REGSVR32 /i SHELL32
and
C:\Windows\Inf\unregmp2.exe /SetWMPAsDefault

If that does not help, let us know what's filetypes are present in the My Videos folder? (the video files). And what other players are installed in the systm?

Thanks Ramesh...I did run those two commands...and after the first

I have all types of video files...avi, mpg, asf/wmv etc...and mp3, wav,wma,
mid etc audio types..and "Play all" doesn't work in either video tasks or
audio tasks.

I have or have had all available Players...you name it...I have it :o))

Ratan, Reboot and try again.

If the problem persist:
Do you have AVG installed. The freeware version of AVG seems to cause this problem.
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&c2coff=1&q=AVG+"play+all"

Remove all the audio files (except .mp3) from My Music folder and try "Play All". This is to see if it is caused by the Perceived Types key (I see that you've applied the edit on line 327 in Kelly's site.)

Hi Ratan,

Great to hear that this solved your problem. You may want to consider
fixing the rest of the bags edit by either running my edit on line 2 (which
allows Windows to save up to 8000 views instead of the default 400)or
re-download the one on line 327.
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Will also add this to your original thread as well.

I can't say for sure but try backing up the key and delete the sub-keys
under ContextMenuHandlers one by one to see which is causing this.

ok Ramesh....but what do I check there ???

I had read somewhere that "Play all" is actually a link to the default
player...how and where do I check that??

Other tasks like....Slideshow for pictures, Copy to CD, Make/Share/Publish
this Folder etc are working.
Thanks...

One of the shell extension (context menu handler) may be causing this.

I did reboot and try again, Ramesh......but no change...

I have Norton...not AVG...

"Play all" doesn't work even when I have only .mp3 files in My Music....or
only .avi files in My Videos...
....and before applying the edit I had checked...the entries were already
there...

Thanks anyway...this is not a major problem for me...

Ratan, Reboot and try again.

If the problem persist:
Do you have AVG installed. The freeware version of AVG seems to cause this
problem.
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&c2coff=1&q=AVG+"play+all"

Remove all the audio files (except .mp3) from My Music folder and try
"Play
All". This is to see if it is caused by the Perceived Types key (I see
that
you've applied the edit on line 327 in Kelly's site.)

Thanks Ramesh...I did run those two commands...and after the first
one....there was a message.. "DllRegisterServer and DllInstall in Shell32
suceeded"...but none after the second one.

I have all types of video files...avi, mpg, asf/wmv etc...and mp3,
wav,wma,
mid etc audio types..and "Play all" doesn't work in either video tasks or
audio tasks.

I have or have had all available Players...you name it...I have it :o))

Hi Ratan,

Try these commands from RUN box:

REGSVR32 /i SHELL32
and
C:\Windows\Inf\unregmp2.exe /SetWMPAsDefault

If that does not help, let us know what's filetypes are present in the My
Videos folder? (the video files). And what other players are installed in
the systm?

Thanks a lot Kelly...but no luck.

Even after applying the edit, "All play" still doesn't function, neither
for
audio nor video.

Any other ideas??

As I have a lot of 'players' installed, it could be that the link can't
find
the path to the default player to play, as there appears to be a lot of
background activity on clicking 'Play all" before giving up !!!

I have selected all file type association with WMP 9, but still no
improvement.
How do I check the file path for 'All play' link??

Thanks

Hi Ratan,

Try the edit on line 327 - Right hand side

Thanks a lot...Kelly...I knew you wouldn't give up so easily :o))

I have re-downloaded both the edits mentioned by you.

Just as clarification for my own understanding, I presently find that there
are now 2 "BagMRU Size" entries for both "Shell" and "ShellNoRoam"...

"Bag MRU Size"=dword:000001f4
"BagMRU Size"=dword:000007d0

Should there be two sub-keys...one with a space between Bag and MRU, and the
other with no space, with different dword values??
Should I delete the one with space between Bag and MRU before or after
applying the edits??

The entry....

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explor
er]
"NoSaveSettings"=dword:00000000

is presently NOT there...though the other entries of the "Play All" edit
regarding

"PerceivedType"="audio" for .mp3,.wav and .wma are already there under

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\

I am waiting for your comments before applying the edits.

Thanks a lot for your time.

Follow up: This is what worked...

Increase Folder View Options Limit: (Line 2)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Or the edit on line 327 (right hand side)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
